Specifying Text Format of Artifact Links

Overview

This article describes how to specify a format for the artifacts that are inserted as links into a rich text field.

Who should read this?

Step 1. Navigate to the Administration area

Step 2. Select Text Format of Inserted Links

Step 3. Select a record type and specify the text format of its artifact links

You can use the following tags:

%ID%: for displaying the ID of the artifact.
%Ref. ID%: for displaying the Ref. ID of the artifact.
%Name%: for displaying the Name/Title of the artifact.
%PROJECT CODE%: for displaying the Project Code associated with the project of the current artifact.
%Disp.ID%: for displaying a custom formatted ID based on the setting.
Use Default: It will use the “Default Setting” format that appears as the first row in the above list.

For example, %NAME% – [%ID%: %Ref.ID%] will display the artifact as “CubeSat Dimensions – [ID: TKC4353B2]” where “CubeSat Dimensions” is the name of the artifact and “TKC4353B2” is the Ref. ID of the artifact.

NOTE

It is not mandatory to use all the tags in the format.
All other characters used in the format will be displayed as they are.
Changing the format will NOT change the text format of the existing inserted artifact links. Use the Update Link Text Wizard to change existing link text.
