Overview
TopTeam supports three types of Login Methods:
- Native
- LDAP
- External Authentication
External Authentication allows you to authenticate TopTeam users with an External Authentication provider such as AD FS using SAML.
This article explains how to configure user accounts for External Authentication using the following methods:
- By creating user accounts with login method as External Authentication.
- By changing the Authentication Type of Existing User Accounts to External Authentication.

Prerequisites
You should have System Administrator or Manage User Accounts permissions for managing user accounts in TopTeam.
Step 1. Go to the Administration section
Step 2. Open Manage User Accounts

1. Creating user accounts with login method as External Authentication
Step 1.1. Create a new user account
We are showing steps for creating an Author user account for demonstration purposes. Using similar steps, you can create user accounts for Collaborators and Viewers.
Step 1.2. Enter details and select the Authentication Type as External Authentication
A new user account is created
2. Changing the Authentication Type of an Existing User Account to External Authentication
Step 2.1. Select a user account with Authentication Type Native Authentication
Step 2.2. Change the Authentication Type to External Authentication and save the changes
Authentication Type is changed to External Authentication

You can also create and edit user accounts using Administration section of TopTeam Desktop App. |

You will be redirected to the External Authentication provider login page configured in TopTeam repository. After successful login, you will be automatically redirected to TopTeam Web page. |
