Overview
You can define system-wide master states for record types using the Define System Wide Master States editor. These states are defined at system-wide level. After defining, you can add desired states to different record types. For information on how to add states to record types, refer to the article Configuring Record Type States.

Step 1. Go to the Administration section

Alternatively, you can type Define System Wide Master States in the How Do I? window to open this editor.
Step 2. The Administration section opens. Click Configure Record Type States & Workflow

Step 3. Click Define System-wide Master States

Step 4. Click New State to define a new Master State

Step 5. Specify name and other details for the State
