Adding Traceability using Quick Explorer (Desktop App)

Overview

Quick Explorer lets you quickly add traceability links between artifacts. You can add traceability links between single or multiple artifacts using Quick Explorer in the following interfaces:

OneView Document
Traceability widget of an artifact’s detail editor
Repository Explorer.

In this article, you will learn how to add traceability links using Quick Explorer.

Prerequisites

You should have required permissions to add traceability links.

Adding Traceability Links in OneView Document

To add traceability links in OneView Document, drag-and-drop artifacts from Quick Explorer to an artifact in the OneView Document. To create traceability links with multiple artifacts use Ctrl+Click.

Ensure that the artifact in OneView Document is not in edit mode.

NOTE

If both upstream and downstream traceability rules are defined between the selected record types, it will ask you to select the direction of traceability i.e. upstream or downstream.

Adding Traceability Links in Artifact Editor

Traceability links between artifacts will be added based on the conditions as listed below:

1. When either Upstream or Downstream traceability linking rule is defined between record types.

In this case, traceability link will be created based on the defined traceability rule. Refer to process demonstration below:

2. When both Upstream and Downstream traceability linking rules are defined between artifacts.

The process to create traceability link is same as above. The only difference is that, in this case, you will be asked to choose the direction of traceability that you want to create between artifacts.

Based on the direction selected, the traceability link will be successfully created and the pop-up will display.

3. When no traceability linking rule is defined between the artifacts.

In that case, a message will display that no traceability linking rule is defined between the record types.
In this case, no traceability link will be created and the following pop-up will display.

Adding Traceability links in Repository Explorer

To add traceability links in Repository Explorer, simply drag-and-drop one or more artifacts from Quick Explorer to an artifact in Repository Explorer. Refer to the process demonstration below.
